LG to launch V50 ThinQ 5G on May 10

LG to launch V50 ThinQ 5G on May 10

LG V50 ThinQ 5G smartphone to launch on May 10: Price and specifications

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G was initially announced a day before MWC 2019 and scheduled to release on April 19 before LG decided to put it on hold for a while.

After introducing the LG V50 ThinQ 5G at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, LG is now planning to launch the device in South Korea on May 10, 2019.

With the launch of the device, According to sources, LG has agreed to schedule the release alongside the three main domestic carriers as it wants to provide consumers a no-compromise 5G experience. We’ve seen reports that Galaxy S10 5G users have complained about poor connectivity issues such as slow speeds and problems when switching between LTE and 5G.

LG has partnered with three domestic carriers to launch its 5G phone in Korea. However, those mobile operators are still in the early stages of the deployment of their 5G networks. And so, it is possible that users could face connectivity while trying to access 5G speeds in the country even if they use the LG V50 ThinQ.

The LG V50 ThinQ was initially scheduled to release in April but the company had to call off the launch due to optimization issues with the processor.

Now, the company has finalised to bring the 5G-enabled device to the South Korean market on May 10. The 6GB RAM with 128GB storage V50 ThinQ 5G will cost KRW 1,199,000 (which is roughly Rs. 71,000).

The upcoming premium LG device features a 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision (1440x3120 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is a secondary display as well which sports a 6.2-inch full-HD+ OLED (2160 x 1080 pixels) display.

The secondary display comes with three Pogo Pin connectors. The biggest highlight of the device is the Snapdragon X50 modem which enables the device to support 5G connection

The rollout of the new generation network has been challenging and it's good that LG has taken its time to tweak out its device rather than ushering a half baked product. The device will release alongside its secondary screen case which LG claims offers the functionality and feel of a foldable phone.

Under the hood, the phone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.

For optics, it boasts of a triple rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 12-megapixel sensor with f/1.5 aperture and a 16-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.9 aperture. On the front, it gets dual cameras consisting of an 8-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture.

Further, connectivity options include, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 3G, 4G LTE-A, 5G, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and USB Type-C port. Additionally, the V50 ThinQ 5G packs a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge3.0 fast charging support.

In terms of the camera, the LG V50 ThinQ comes with a triple rear camera setup - a feature that was also present in the company's older V-series flagship device, the LG V40 ThinQ that we reviewed earlier this year - which includes a 16MP super wide angle lens, a 12MP standard lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens.

On the front, V50 ThinQ sports a dual camera setup with an 8MP standard lens and a 5MP wide angle lens. It comes with a gigantic 4,000mAh battery and it features support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

As far as the phone's second attachable screen, or the dual screen, is concerned, it comes with a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED FullVision display and it has three pogo ping slots that enable users to connect the display with the main device.

New Bajaj Avenger Street 160 Launched

New Bajaj Avenger Street 160 Launched: Know Price in India, Specs, and Features

Bajaj Avenger Street 160 Deliveries Begin; Priced At ₹ 81,037

The Bajaj Avenger Street 160 has been a long rumoured model set to join the company's product portfolio and the bike is now available on sale at select dealerships pan India.

The new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 is priced at ₹ 81,037 (ex-showroom, Nagpur), and deliveries too for the cruiser have begun. The Avenger Street 160 replaces the Avenger Street 180 that is yet to receive ABS, which is now mandatory as per the regulations.

The new Street 160 is the entry-level offering in the Avenger line-up and retains the same design elements as the bigger models. It need to be noted that the bike maker has pulled the plug on the Avenger 180 in just a year of its launch.

The Avenger 160 will be the third iteration of the entry-level Avenger (and sixth overall) and will be replacing the current Avenger Street 180. It’ll also feature the same 4-valve motor of the Pulsar NS160, to comply with the upcoming BSVI emission norms.

Bajaj is going to launch the Avenger 160 ABS variant, replacing the Avenger 180 the same blacked out styling, new headlamp cluster with LED DRLs, fork gaitors and alloy wheels as part of the package. We first saw these changes on the 2018 Avenger series that received extensive changes.

The bike also gets the same body graphics as the other models, while the side panel now comes with the 'Street 160' moniker and is the only visual detail that denotes this is a new motorcycle.

As of now, the company hasn’t revealed the official launch date, but according to our dealer sources, the Avenger 160cc could arrive in India by next month.

Power on the new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 comes from the 160.3 cc single-cylinder engine borrowed from the Pulsar NS 160. The air-cooled motor is tuned to produce 15 bhp at 8500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm.

The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Those are appreciable numbers compared to the older Avenger 180 that churned out 15 bhp with respect to power, while torque output was lower at 13.7 Nm.

It will most likely also get single-channel ABS rather than a dual-channel unit. Other than the mechanical update, we expect the Avenger 160 to feature minor cosmetic changes, to make the distinction between the Avenger Street 180 and Avenger 160 more clear.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear, while braking performance comes from a front disc brake with single-channel ABS with the rear using a drum brake unit. The back wheel also comes with Rear-Lift Protection (RLP) sensor to avoid accidental stoppies.

The new Bajaj Avenger Street 160 will lock horns primarily against Suzuki Intruder in the enry-level cruiser segment. The latter though is about ₹ 20,000 more expensive than the Street 160 on sale. An official announcement on the launch and pricing is expected in the following days.

We had earlier reported that Bajaj dealerships had started accepting the bookings for the Avenger Street 160, and now, we have learnt that the deliveries of the bike will commence from today

The Avenger 160 ABS is priced at Rs 82,500 (ex-showroom Mumbai). At this price, it will be a whopping Rs 25,500 more affordable than its rival, the Suzuki Intruder.

Bajaj’s new entry-level cruiser, the Avenger Street 160 ABS, has begun reaching dealerships. The motorcycle, as we revealed last week, has been priced at Rs 81,036 (ex-showroom, Pune), making it around Rs 7,000 cheaper than the Avenger 180 it is expected to replace. Its on-road price in Pune is around Rs 1 lakh. A dealer source told us that they have already delivered a few units of the new bikes.

Bajaj Avenger Street 160 has been launched in India at a price of ₹82,253 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price point, it has taken the title of the most affordable cruiser bike in India, undercutting the Avenger Street 180 by ₹5,824. The launch of the new Avenger Street 160 marks the end of the road for the Avenger Street 180 from Bajaj Auto's line-up.

Talking about the design of the new Bajaj Avenger Street 160, it is visually the same as the existing Avenger 180 bike. So, it still retains its low-slung stance of a cruiser. It also gets roadster like round headlamp with DRLs, blacked out engine bay, and other mechanical bits. Even the instrument panel is an analogue gauge unlike the digital cluster available on the Avenger Cruise 220.

In terms of power plant, Bajaj has plonked the Avenger Street 160 with the familiar 160.3 cc oil-cooled unit with SOHC configuration that does duties on the Bajaj Pulsar NS160. Since it has been carried forward in the same state of tune, this engine delivers the same power on the Avenger 160 as it does on the Pulsar NS160; 15.28 bhp and 14.6 Nm of torque.

Powering the Avenger 160 is a motor that is based on the one seen on the Pulsar NS160. This 160.3cc engine makes 15.5hp and 14.6Nm of torque on the NS. If Bajaj replicates this on the Avenger, the horsepower will remain unchanged from that on the Avenger 180, even though it is a smaller motor in comparison. Furthermore, the torque on the 160.3cc engine is slightly higher, compared to the 13.7Nm the Avenger 180 produced.

As we previously revealed, one of the reasons the Indian brand has chosen to go this route is because the 180 and 220 sat too close to each other in the company’s portfolio. The introduction of the Avenger 160 will now allow Bajaj to substantially differentiate between the two models.

At this price, the Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS undercuts it's only rival, the Suzuki Intruder (which starts at Rs 1.03 lakh), by an even bigger margin than before. This also means that the Avenger 160 ABS upholds the Avenger 180’s title of being the most affordable cruiser-styled motorcycle in the country.

The decision to discontinue the Bajaj Avenger Street 180 is said to have been made so as to allow theAvenger range to cover two different market segments. Since the Avenger 180 was positioned quite close to the Avenger 220 in terms of specs, replacing the Avenger 180 with a lower capacity motorcycle will now allow Bajaj to extend the Avenger range's reach to a wider set of customers.

India Most Wanted trailer day: Malaika Arora cheers for boyfriend Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi joins in

India Most Wanted trailer day: Malaika Arora cheers for boyfriend Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi joins in

India’s Most Wanted trailer: Arjun Kapoor is on the lookout for India’s Osama

Kapoor is returning to the big screen with Raj Kumar Gupta's India's Most Wanted, and Malaika Arora and Janhvi Kapoor cannot stop cheering for him.

It's India's Most Wanted trailer day, and Arjun Kapoor has found his two cheerleaders in girlfriend Malaika Arora and half-sister Janhvi Kapoor.

It is no secret that Arjun Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film India's Most Wanted. And as soon as the actor shared a new poster ahead of the trailer release, Malaika and Janhvi were the first ones to re-share the same on their Instagram stories

After his last debacle, Namastey England, Arjun Kapoor is returning to the big screen with Raj Kumar Gupta's India's Most Wanted. And Janhvi and Malaika are constantly cheering for the actor on social media.

Last month, when Arjun Kapoor dropped the first poster of India's Most Wanted, Janhvi Kapoor was among the first ones to laud the actor. The Dhadak actress took to Instagram to praise the poster of Arjun's film.

After sharing India's Most Wanted poster on her Instagram story, Janhvi also said, "The poster was literally too cool to ruin with text and emojis!!! So excited for this one!!!

If Janhvi praised the poster, girlfriend Malaika Arora couldn't stop drooling over the "awesome" teaser of India's Most Wanted.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, India's Most Wanted is an action thriller. It revolves around 5 unsung heroes who go on a manhunt for India's Osama.

Talking about the experience of working in India's Most Wanted, Arjun had earlier said, "Some journeys are special because of the team and the effort that the people put in to fulfil a vision.

As my 12th film India's Most Wanted wraps today, all I can say is Raj Kumar Gupta, it's been an honour and a privilege to work with you and your team, to tell a story that needed to be told and to play one of the many unsung heroes we have in our country."

India's Most Wanted trailer: Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, India's Most Wanted is the story of five men who took the charge of finding India's Osama. Starring Arjun Kapoor in the lead role, the film releases on May 24.

Starring Arjun Kapoor in the lead role, the trailer of India’s Most Wanted is out. The trailer shows that the story revolves around five men who go on an undercover mission to catch the most wanted man in India, dubbed as India’s Osama.

From what we learn in the trailer, the men are trying to catch a dreaded terrorist, without any guns and back-up to rely on. They face strong opposition from bureaucrats and also have to outsmart Pakistani intelligence agencies.

We see that the five men, led by Arjun Kapoor, travel to different cities in India and their search comes to an end in Kathmandu.

While the trailer is high on patriotism with some strong dialogues, the audience has seen many similar films in the recent past so it is yet to be seen if this film offers anything different in the genre.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film is based on real-life events that occurred between 2007-2013. Raj Kumar Gupta is known for helming films like Raid, No One Killed Jessica and Aamir.

He has also written the Arjun Kapoor starrer India’s Most Wanted. The film also stars Rajesh Sharma in a key role.

The music of India’s Most Wanted has been composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Arjun Kapoor was last seen in 2018’s Namaste England which failed to leave a mark. This year, Arjun will also be seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama Panipat alongside Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt. He will also star in Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar alongside Parineeti Chopra.

Talking about Arjun Kapoor's film, India's Most Wanted - it is a film inspired by a secret manhunt that was conducted between 2012 and 2014 to capture one of the country's most dreaded terrorists. The makers of the film did a thorough research of three years to make this film.

This is how Malaika Arora reacted to Arjun Kapoor's India's Most Wanted trailer

As soon as the trailer of Arjun Kapoor's film, India's Most Wanted, released online and the actor shared it on Instagram, Malaika Arora reacted to it with applause emojis

Arjun's last film 'Namaste England' had failed to work at the box office. Last month, when Arjun unveiled the first poster of 'India's Most Wanted', Janhvi was among the first ones to praise the actor. She took to Instagram to praise the poster of Arjun's film.

On Thursday, May 2, the makers of the Arjun Kapoor-starrer India's Most Wanted released the trailer online. The actor, too, took to his Instagram account to share the trailer and also went live through the medium. The live post received applause from his rumoured girlfriend, Malaika Arora. She dropped a comment, which had three clap emoticons.

It's nice to see how supportive Malaika is of rumoured beau Arjun Kapoor.

Not just Malaika, filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's wife Sunita Gowariker also dropped a lovely comment praising Arjun's talent. She wrote: "FANTASTIC!!!!! Soooo looking forward to watching it soon! [sic]". On the other hand, Malaika couldn't stop lauding the "awesome" teaser of the film.

Before the release of Arjun's film's trailer, Malaika had also taken to her Instagram story to announce its release date.

She had shared the film's poster on her social media account. Not just Malaika, Arjun, too, keeps commenting on her post with a 'hmm'. Looks like both of them have some secret code words behind the word 'hmm' as both - Malaika and Arjun often leave that word on each other's posts.

with the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani inching closure towards the Odisha coast, the state government has intensified its precautionary measures to deal with any situation.

The government has assigned 11 IAS officers to supervise the relief, rehabilitation and restoration work in the districts that are likely to be affected by the cyclone.

Collectors in the all coastal and adjoining districts of Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj have been advised to identify all vulnerable people living in kutcha houses or living near the coast or in low lying areas.

They have been instructed to start the evacuation of all those living in such areas near the coast from Wednesday and complete the process by Thursday afternoon.

The vulnerable people will be shifted to multipurpose cyclone/flood shelters and other safe shelters.
Arrangements have already been made for free kitchen, safe drinking water, lighting, health and sanitation facilities at the shelters.

Around 900 cyclone shelters have been made ready to house evacuees while troops of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and 78 teams of the National Disaster response Force (NDRF) have been requisitioned for deployment.

The evacuees and it has requested for two helicopters to be stationed in the state for emergency food distribution. The cabinet secretary directed the Ministry of Defence to meet the requirements of the Odisha government.

The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), the country's top body to handle an emergency situation, on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness for "Fani", which is likely to hit south of Puri in Odisha on Friday, a home ministry official said

All 28 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 20 Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) units and other Fire Services units are being dispatched to areas on a priority basis.

While the government has directed to close all educational institutions from Thursday till further order, it has cancelled leaves of various departments.

The government has cancelled leaves and holidays for all the officials in the Energy Department as part of preparedness in view of the possible damage in power supply and distribution during the cyclone.

All kinds of leaves of doctors and health staffs have been cancelled up to May 15. The Health Department has asked that all those who are on leave must report back to respective headquarters by Wednesday evening.

The Navy and the Coast Guard have deployed ships and helicopters for relief-and-rescue operations while the Army and Air Force units in the three states have also been put on standby, an official statement said

The SRC also advised the tourists to leave Puri by the evening of May 2 and non-essential travel must be cancelled during Friday, Saturday to the likely affected districts.

District Emergency Operation Centres and control rooms of other offices have been activated and functioning round the clock.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm 'FANI' in Bay of Bengal lay centred at 0530 hrs IST on May 1, about 680 km south-southwest of Puri and 430 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam.

At a meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha and attended by the representatives of the state and central ministries and the agencies concerned, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that "Fani" was expected to touch the Odisha coast, south of Puri, on Friday afternoon with wind speeds ranging up to 180 km per hour, causing heavy rainfall in the coastal districts.

It is very likely to intensify further and cross Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, to the south of Puri around May 3 afternoon with maximum sustained wind speed 175-185 kmph gusting to 205 kmph.

The IMD conveyed to the NCMC that the storm may surge about 1.5 metres in height and may inundate the low-lying coastal areas of Ganjam, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha at the time of landfall.

The storm is likely to impact the coastal districts of Odisha, including Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Balasore. In West Bengal, it will affect East and West Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Jhargram districts and Kolkata and in Andhra Pradesh, Srikakulam, Vijayanagram and Visakhapatnam districts.

Reviewing the preparedness of the state and central agencies, the cabinet secretary directed that all necessary measures be taken to complete the evacuation of people from the areas in the cyclone path and to maintain adequate quantities of essential supplies such as food, drinking water, medicines etc.

The railways, civil aviation and shipping ministries were advised to review their preparedness well in time and ensure quick resumption of services in the event of any disruption.

The state governments have issued advisories and are ensuring that fishermen do not venture into the sea. The IMD has been issuing bulletins every three hours with the latest forecast to all the states concerned. The home ministry is also in continuous touch with the state governments and the central agencies concerned.

The chief secretaries and principal secretaries of the Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal governments participated in the NCMC meeting through video-conference.Senior officers from the ministries of home, shipping, civil aviation, railways, fisheries, power, telecommunications, defence, drinking water and sanitation, food processing, health, besides those of the IMD, NDMA and NDRF also attended the meeting.

How Cyclone Fani got its name and what it means

The name for this cyclone was picked up from a pool containing 64 names suggested by eight countries in the North Indian Ocean basin. Fani was suggested by Bangladesh.

Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and other states with their coastlines hugging the Bay of Bengal are bracing up for Cyclone Fani to make a landfall. Cyclone Fani (pronounced as Foni) is gaining strength over southeast Bay of Bengal and will soon develop into an "extremely severe cyclonic" storm.

The name for this cyclone was suggested by Bangladesh. The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has devised a mechanism where countries submit a list of names from time to time. Names of cyclones are chosen from this pool.

For tropical cyclones developing in the North Indian Ocean, countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan and Thailand send their names to the regional tropical cyclone committee.

At present, all eight countries have submitted eight names each for naming future cyclones. The name Fani was chosen from this list containing 64 names.

The word Fani (pronounced as Foni) means snake.

Last year Cyclone Titli hit Andhra Pradesh and parts of Odisha. This cyclone was named by Pakistan. In 2017, Cyclone Ockhi caused severe damage in Kerala and parts of Tamil Nadu. Its name was given by Bangladesh.

The names given by India are: Agni, Akash, Bijli, Jal, Lehar, Megh, Sagar and Vayu.

Facebook Messenger is getting faster, lighter and more secure in 2019

Facebook Messenger is getting faster, lighter and more secure in 2019

Facebook Messenger to Get Faster iOS App, New Desktop Apps for Windows and macOS, and More

Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerburg, and other leaders at the company took the stage at the F8 developer conference today to talk about where the platform is headed.

A desktop Messenger app is in the works, but we’ve now learned details of what the company has in store for the mobile messaging app which is getting rebuilt for speed and small memory footprint.

We also got a look at the major new Facebook design headed for iOS and desktop that brings a brand new UI and logo, as well as a glimpse at new features and changes for Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Amongst the announcements, Messenger was said to receive a new version for iOS later this year that will rebuilt from the ground up to be faster and lighter.

A new desktop app for Windows and macOS was also announced. Other new Messenger features include a way to discover and watch videos together, end-to-end encryption, a dedicated space for close friends, and finally, new ways businesses can connect with consumers.

Zuckerburg kicked off the F8 keynote and reiterated the company’s new goals of safety, privacy, encryption, and interoperability that he shared last month. He stated again that the company believes the “future is private.”

He told the F8 audience that Messenger would take the lead among Facebook’s products to make changes in the direction of those new principles and also have the goal of being the fastest messaging service.

Starting with the faster, lighter Facebook Messenger app, the company said it is using LightSpeed to achieve its aim of making Messenger for iOS the “fastest private communication app on the entire planet.”

The new app will be more reliable, use less battery, the company claimed, as well as less storage. On this last front, Facebook said early tests showed it could reduce the size of the app from around 127MB to less than 30MB. In terms of speed, testing for the new app has shown cold start times of less than 1.3 seconds.

The re-engineered app will be available later this year, and the company did not announce plans for a similar version on Android which already has Facebook Lite.

Zuckerburg confirmed the previously leaked news that Messenger will be making its way to both Mac and Windows and we got a glimpse of the app in dark mode on macOS. We didn’t get a firm release date for Messenger for desktop besides the app arriving this fall

The presentation also highlighted that more than 2 billion people will be messaging privately with end-to-end encryption when the update comes to Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

Messenger will get more ways to have ephemeral content. Carrying forward the aim for a unified messaging platform between Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, Facebook also said Messenger will in the future gain the ability to call and message users on Instagram and WhatsApp – not just Facebook.

As for interoperability, Zuckerburg showed off a new “Friends” tab that will be coming to Messenger where users will be able to see content from people they follow from Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The interface features a tiled card design and won’t include content from businesses or public figures.

Facebook Messenger will also get a dedicated place for users' “closest connections”, and this will find its place on the second tab in the Messenger app.

This tab will is where users can discover Stories and messages from their closest friends and family, share snippets of their own day, and also choose exactly who sees what they post. This new feature will also roll out later this year.

Separately, the Watch Party feature Facebook had introduced on its main service last year will soon find its way to Messenger, letting friends discover and watch videos together. The feature is currently being tested, and will roll out globally later this year.

Another private communication focused update that will be coming to Messenger will be a “Watch Together” feature which sounds similar to other third-party apps we’ve seen previously that encourages remotely connecting with friends to watch videos.

Messenger will also get a desktop app on Windows and macOS platforms, and it will get all the features the mobile app has, including audio calls, group video calls, and more.

The dedicated app will also allow users to “collaborate on projects or multi-task while chatting in Messenger.” Once again, the desktop apps are being tested, and will be rolled out later this year.

Finally, Facebook also said it is making it easier for businesses to connect with potential customers by adding lead generation templates to Ads Manager, where businesses will be able to create a Q&A experience in Messenger to learn more about them.

It will also become easier to book an appointment with businesses, thanks to a new “appointment experience”.

Another highlight from the keynote was the unveiling of the next major Facebook iteration, FB5. The design will be much lighter, losing most of the blue theme on both mobile and desktop. It should also be easier to navigate and will feature a redesigned top tab bar.

FB5 will also come with an update to the Facebook logo, which has been a square with rounded corners for some time now. The new logo will be circular and looks to be dynamic depending on context as well.

A faster and lighter Messenger

Concretely, the team is cutting the size of the installed app from about a hundred megabytes down to less than thirty megabytes (the iOS installer is currently a circa 247-megabyte download, depending on your specific iOS device model).

The goal for the optimized app, developed under the code-name Project LightSpeed: launch in less than two seconds because “people expect their messaging apps to be fast and reliable.”

Facebook Messenger has undergone a lot of changes in the past few months. With Messenger 4, for example, it did away with clutter by going from nine tabs to four, and simplified the interface so it was easier to send a photo and start a video call. It also introduced dark mode, threaded replies, and a ten-minute unsend window.

At F8 2019, Facebook's annual developer conference, the company announced there would be even more changes coming to Messenger in 2019. New features include a more lightweight app, a dedicated area for close friends and family, a "watch party" feature, a desktop app, and end-to-end encryption.

The social network has reiterated its commitment to make Messenger end-to-end encrypted by default, like Apple’s iMessage. When the update hits Messenger and WhatsApp, Facebook said, more than two billion of its customers will be using encrypted messaging.

A new way to watch videos together

Aside from a faster, lighter app, Messenger is getting two new major features—a new way to watch videos together with other people and better ways to connect with close friends.
A new way to watch videos together

You’ll be able to quickly share a video from the Facebook app on Messenger and invite others to watch together, in real time, even while messaging or on a video chat. The feature is currently in testing and should launch globally later this year.

Video is another area of growth for Facebook. According to the company, around 410 million people use video chat on Messenger each month, and around two billion minutes per day is spent watching video on Facebook.

So it makes sense that Facebook would attempt to merge the two by introducing a "watch party" style feature on Messenger, which was hinted at last year in an internal test. This would let you and your friends discover and watch videos on Facebook at the same time, which can be done either in a group text, or a group video chat

In addition to collaborative video watching, the Messenger app is gaining better ways to help you connect with your closest friends, as detailed further below.

An appointment experience

But that’s not all. In addition to the aforementioned user-facing feature additions, the social network behemoth has unveiled some interesting capabilities that will appeal to small businesses who use Messenger as a point of contact with clients.

Along with regular consumers, Facebook Messenger has a lot of business users too. According to the company, there are over 40 million active businesses on Messenger, many of which use it to communicate with their customers.

One upcoming new feature for businesses on Messenger is an appointment booking system that'll hook into the business' internal calendar, so that customers can easily schedule, change or cancel their appointments.

And to make it easier to book an appointment with businesses like car dealerships, hair stylists, beauty salons, cleaning services and the like, the Messenger team has created an appointment experience, as depicted right above.

Connecting with close friends

Another new feature is a dedicated area in the Messenger app for close friends and family, which will contain everything from Stories to private images and videos that you share with each other.

It's unclear what this will look like just yet, but this sounds a little similar to the Close Friends feature that already exists on the main Facebook app as well as on Instagram Stories.

Messenger fans will be getting a dedicated virtual lounge within the app to server as a private sharing space for content such as images, videos, Stories and what not. According to the keynote, content from people you follow on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will appear within Messenger’s new Friends tab (excluding content from brands and public figures).

“You’ll also be able to share snippets from your own day and can choose exactly who sees what you post,” says the firm. This feature will also launch later this year.

It basically takes the story of Bharat forward. Salman's character experiences a more mature sort of love with Madam-Sir, played by Katrina. It's the soul of 'Bharat’s music.”

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Bharat is one of the much-anticipated films of the year. The movie also starring Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi and Sunil Grover among others will release this Eid and has been directed by Sultan director Ali Abbas Zafar.

Talking about the term Madam-Sir, which has piqued everyone’s interest, the filmmaker lets in, “Madam-Sir is a common way of addressing a senior woman officer in Delhi. It’s a common word that you hear in government offices even today.

That’s where it came from and was used to address Kumud Raina (Katrina's character) in the film.”

The love ballad brings out the sweetness in their chemistry effortlessly and one can’t wait to witness a lot more of them on the big screen soon. Don’t they look stunning together? Recently, Ali Abbas Zafar in an exclusive interview spoke about Salman and Katrina’s pairing.

He said, “I realised that I cannot write love scenes between the two (Salman and Katrina) of them because even when Salman sees Katrina for the first time in the film, you automatically feel that they are made for each other. So, the task is to keep it very real and subtle.

To make it as normal as possible. They both are really good looking stars and I was coming straight from Tiger where they play husband and wife and then to bring them back and write the scene where they meet for the first time in Bharat and fall in love is a process but somewhere because of the story it comes out as very natural and sweet.”

The film, which traces the journey of a man and a nation spanning six decades, with references to the pages of history and landmark events, marks Ali’s third collaboration with Salman and Katrina. It also stars Disha, Tabu, Sunil Grover and Jackie Shroff in key roles.

After their 2017 film Tiger Zinda Hai, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are reuniting with Ali Abbas Zafar for Bharat. And their fans are excited to see this hit on-screen jodi once again on the big screen.

Talking about her chemistry with Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif said in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, "Yes, Salman and I share great chemistry, but when I walked onto this set, I was very clear that the script demanded a different kind of dynamics between us and I had to maintain it."

Bharat is an official remake of a Korean film An Ode To My Father. It depicts the history of India through the life of an ordinary man.

Talking about working with Salman in the film, Katrina said in an interview, “I feel the audience expects a lot from Salman and me as an on-screen jodi. We have received so much love and support from fans that we have that much more responsibility to deliver a good film. Nowadays, the tolerance for anything less than perfect is so little.”
